The only game in the Ridgeons Premier Division to beat the elements saw Leiston return from the Unwin Ground, Ely with all the points and complete a double over the Robins with their first win since early November. The home side should be applauded for pulling out the stops to get the game on and a decent if heavy, surface ensued. The visitors were without the suspended Neil Calver and Danny Cunningham while Paul Hart was injured. Leiston almost took an early lead but leading scorer Lee McGlone somehow headed wide with Pacey stranded. The visitors were certainly the more sure footed on the sticky surface and only a fine save from Pacey denied Leon Ottley-Gooch the opener. With visiting custodian Jamie Stannard untroubled, the first half ended goalless despite the visitors well in control. The second half was barely ten minutes old when Leiston took the lead as SHANE WARDLEY side footed home after Leon Ottley-Gooch's cross had held up in the sticky box. The lead was short lived as Ely conjured up a similar equaliser as Mason fired home after a loose ball was held up inside the area. Almost immediately LEE MCGLONE restored the lead as he went on a mazy run beating several defenders before brilliantly chipping Pacey. It was LEE MCGLONE again who completed the scoring, making sure from close in after Chris Williams shot from Michael Brothers cross didn't appear to have the legs to cross the line. Ely could do little to penetrate a solid visiting defence expertly marshalled by skipper David Head. A more than deserved win and an impressive win also after five League games without a win since the victory over Wroxham.
